President Koopa (played by Dennis Hopper) is a human-looking dictator who is actually a highly evolved descendant of a 🦖 Tyrannosaurus Rex. After minor exposure to an evolution-reversing device (the Devo machine), Koopa occasionally flashes reptilian features like slitted pupils, a long pointed tongue, and scaly skin texture. He is a thoroughly corrupt and self-proclaimed "President" of Dinohattan who plots a large scale assault and takeover of Earth.
The film plot is similar to 4th dimension Reptilian theories. The fourth-dimensional reptilian theory is a fringe conspiracy concept asserting that shape-shifting, lizard-like extraterrestrial or interdimensional entities from a higher dimension control Earth by manipulating human society, politics, and global finance. The concept was heavily popularized in the late 1990s by British conspiracy theorist David Icke, who claimed that a secret group of reptilian humanoids—often called the Babylonian Brotherhood or the Anunnaki—orchestrates global events.
📍 Fungus Networks
In the 1993 film, the underground city of Dinohattan is overrun by a living, sentient network of 🍄 fungus. "Trust the Fungus" became the movie's iconic catchphrase-urging characters (and fans) to have faith in the bizarre living environment that ultimately aids the heroes.
It is later revealed (spoiler) that the mycelial network within Koopa's draconian kingdom was in fact 👑 King Toadstool, permeating said hellscape, gently nudging the Mario brothers toward greater truth and the saving of Princess Daisy, while ultimately leading to the re-embodiment of the King and the banishment of Koopa.
📍 Koopa Coins: Traditional video game coins do not physically appear on screen in the 1993 film, but characters verbally reference "Koopa coins" in dialogue.
