Overview

Event 201 was a high-level pandemic preparedness tabletop exercise hosted by the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, the World Economic Forum, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on October 18, 2019. The simulation modeled a fictional coronavirus outbreak to demonstrate the economic and societal impacts of a global pandemic and outline actionable public-private responses.

The theory is that a crisis creates urgency, the public accepts temporary control with pandemic policy, and that control becomes a permanent layer. These exercises took place on October 18, 2019 just a few months before the actual global pandemic.
